Blackheads, or open comedones, are caused by excess sebum oil which clogs pores. There are many sebaceous glands under the skin which produce sebum oil. Sebum oil helps moisturizing and protecting the skin. But if the sebaceous glands produce too much sebum oil, it will clog in the pores as it tries to travel to the skin surface. Then, sebum, bacteria and dead skin cells mix together inside the pores. The top level remains open to the air, becomes oxidized and then turns into dark color, forming blackhead.

The best way to get rid of blackheads is to prevent it from appearing. There are many things you can do for blackhead prevention.

* Avoid too much intake of vegetable oil, because vegetable oil can cause imbalance in the hormone levels, which is a major reason of blackhead formation.

* Do not use harsh soaps, which may irritate the skin. Use a natural cleanser instead.

* Use a gentle skin exfoliant to remove dead cells from your skin, and keep the skin clean.

Beat white part of an egg. Add one teaspoon of honey and with a cotton swab, apply it on face. Keep it around half an hour and then scrub well and rinse with warm water. This is also good for blackheads and dark spots. Check out http://useinfo-blackhead.blogspot.com/ for more useful tips to control blackheads.
Dr Bronner's soap and an olive oil based moisturizer worked for me.
